In 1987 Frank Zinzi, with sons Frank Jr. and Chris, held the first Zinzi Christmas Party in their suburban Washington home as means for friends and family to get together. Each year the party grew and grew and grew, and after a while the ol' backyard could no longer sustain the large volume of guests.

By 1997, the party was moved to a more appropriate location: the Kena Temple hall in Fairfax. (Suffice it to say, the neighbors were quite pleased with this decision!) By then the Zinzi Christmas Party had evolved into a full-fledged fundraiser benefitting Saint Ann's Infant & Maternity Home, and one other charity. The party remained at Kena Temple Hall for a couple of years, but even that facility became too small. With the guest list now exceeding 500, once again the party had to be moved to a more appropriate location.

In 1999 "party central" became the Grand Ballroom of the well-known Grand Hyatt Washington hotel (located at 11th & H Streets NW). In addition to having plenty of space, the hotel's other advantages include its convenient, centralized location, plush accommodations, and excellent service.

The Zinzi Christmas Party has grown tremendously since its inception. It is now co-sponsored by more than two dozen corporations and local businesses, plus a number of individuals serving as co-hosts. With the guest list hovering around the 1,000 mark, it has since become the preeminent holiday event of DC's bar, restaurant and nightclub industry. And in doing so, it has raised thousands of dollars in support of various local and national charities. Click here to view fact sheet
